Scouting for Food

Scouting for Food is scheduled for February 1, 2020, when Scouts throughout the Grand Canyon Council help make a difference to fight hunger. Scouting for Food is the leading service program for Boy Scouts of America and is a part of the national BSA program - Good Turn for America. In partnership with local food banks, this council-wide service project begins Saturday, January 31st as Scouts distribute door hangers in their neighborhoods to announce the upcoming food drive. Scouts will return on Saturday, February 1st to pick up and deliver donations to their local food banks and pantries.

Pat Hammons will be coordinating the 2020 Scouting for Food efforts for Lost Dutchman District.  He has arranged for two food banks, Resurrection and Midwestern, who will supply up to six trucks to pick up collected food at a location need you.  Please contact Pat at pbhtf62@cox.net or 602-809-3212 to help him identify the best locations to park the trucks.

If your unit's Scouting for Food collection is donated to your organization's food bank, please let Pat know how many pounds of food was collected so he can enter the information into the council Scouting for Food database for your unit contribution.

The goal is 15 pounds per Scout.  (That’s a little more than a dozen cans per Scout.)
